AFC Fylde (Hive) The Hive for a Fiver? Frack Yes! Match Thread
So..... Saturday sees the bees taking on AFC Farage in our latest Bananarama fixture.
After seeing off Aldershot and their pet referee on Tuesday, Barnet remain top of the league but only on goals scored after York City managed a comfortable win away at Land Rover FC.
David Haythornthwaite's politics aside (he supports fracking and the Reform Party) his money has kept AFC Fylde competing for National League football and while his ambitions may outweigh his team's ability to deliver, it is hard to argue that his presence at the club has been a bad thing for what was Kirkham and Wesham FC. After a poor start to the season Fylde decided to fell their manager Beech, but so far they are still struggling to see the wood for the bees as they have picked up 4 points in 3 games since his departure and sit just above the Wealdstone zone.
For Barnet, a scrappy win and now an opportunity for a bumper Hive crowd against beatable opposition. Capitalising on Deano's passionate post match interview after Alty it is to be hoped we will attract a fair few additional supporters to the Hive aside from those poor souls who are unable to attend because the seat is too plastic the grass is too wet or whatever pathetic excuse they have for not paying the price of a pint to watch "their" football team.
In terms of team lineup I think Tavares will start in goal, defence, midfield and up front . Hopefully Chapman is fit as we looked a lot less fluid without him. I would also hope Nicke is ready to start so we can protect Stead a bit more

---Glover-----------------Hobson----------Hartigan------------Coker------

Subs: Gilmore, Kizzi, Grimwood, Okimo, Kanu, Shelton, Stead
I am doing this one. Hoping we can pull clear at the top.

What is it with football chairmen from this part of the country? We all know about the Oystons at Blackpool and the erstwhile Fleetwood chairman was a wrong-un too.
If we keep Nick Haughton quiet, this should be comfortable for us.
I wonder if the away following will reach 50?

There is someone out there who can work out what attendance would be needed to break even if entrance fee was £22, I tried and used figures at 900 season ticket holders and say 400 on day paying £22, which is £8.800, and to roughly break even with same season ticket holders @ 900 if right this would mean we would need 1.800 paying £5. But would like someone who could work out what the club need to not loose money.

Even with the same ticket revenue, more people in the stadium means more refreshments sold, a full car park at £8 a pop, and a better atmosphere. The aim is to showcase the club on and off the field to non-regulars and build the fanbase.
How we entice them back for a repeat visit is a different debate entirely.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

I think this is what supermarkets call a loss-leader!

Roughly half of the tickets so far have been bought for a fiver.
The other half relate to season tickets (ie they have paid pretty much the full whack).

Weather has been diabolical this week, but due to dry out this afternoon. Saturday's forecast looking decent. Might encourage a few more to take the plunge online later on.

Here's hoping the pitch holds up after the recent rain and the promotion and team are successes tomorrow.

No reason why the pitch shouldn’t hold up. No ones played on it for a fortnight.

Yes but The Hive wasn't built on a known flood plain.simples169 wrote: ↑27 Sep 2024, 10:36That is what AFC Wimbledon thought untill their pitch sunk into a big hole !!rudebwoyben wrote: ↑27 Sep 2024, 09:04 No reason why the pitch shouldn’t hold up. No ones played on it for a fortnight.

Tomorrow’s referee is Andrew Miller. He was the ref for last season’s away match at Oldham (6 bookings).
Co-incidentally he also ref’d Fylde’s away match at Oldham (5 bookings and 1 red card).

The pitch will be fine, it has a sand sub-base which aids drainage.

Funnily enough, it actually is.becbee wrote: ↑27 Sep 2024, 11:26Yes but The Hive wasn't built on a known flood plain.simples169 wrote: ↑27 Sep 2024, 10:36That is what AFC Wimbledon thought untill their pitch sunk into a big hole !!rudebwoyben wrote: ↑27 Sep 2024, 09:04 No reason why the pitch shouldn’t hold up.
