2024 / 2025 - Stats & Run in Spreadsheet

Post: # 388337Post BedfordBee »

Morning all,

I have dusted off the run in spreadsheet and added some additional tabs :)

"Comparison to Last Year" - Compares the results to previous 2 years with regards to mapping against Teams. Replacing the Teams promoted with those relegated from League 2 and those relegated with those promoted from the North & South. Comparing this way we are currently 6 points better off than last year (+4 Home and +2 Away). Interestingly of the 19 Games left we managed to get 38 points last year (match this and will take us to the 92 points).

"Matches Left" - Shows the scores for the Top 5 and the matches they have left. I will look to do the same template (as last year) by week showing League Positions of remaining fixtures. Interestingly we are the only Top 5 side to win against Aldershot so far, York are only side to beat Halifax.

"Yearly Comparison" - Shows that after 27 Games we are 2 points better than last year and 4 points better than previous year. The next 4 Games will be interesting as this stage on previous 2 years we only managed 3 points (22/23) and 4 points (23/24) over these 4 games. Over the last 19 games we took 24 points in 22/23, 34 points in 23/24 - so this will be a key period and may allow us to put pressure on those other teams.

Enjoy and if you would like anything else shown let me know :)

Great work, I think the 'matches left' tab makes for particularly interesting reading. We appear to have one more home game than York and FGR, which seems advantageous considering our impressive record at The Hive.

Also, as I said elsewhere, look at our final two matches of the season compared to FGR’s and York’s.
We have Aldershot at home (should be safe with nothing to play for by then) and Fylde away (think they’ll be relegated by then ).
FGR finish with Oldham at home and Hartlepool away.
York finish with Solihull at home and Eastleigh away.

Looks good on paper but those 4 teams could be already guaranteed a certain play off spot or not etc but hopefully not the case.

Morning all,

Have updated the spreadsheets.

We are still 6 points ahead on like v like comparison to last year when comparing sides we have played (the next 3 matches last year were all wins - Hartlepool (H), Tamworth & Boston equivalents Oxford City & Kidderminster A).

When comparing to points after 28 games we are 2 points ahead on last year. The next 3 games resulted in 1 point (previous year these 3 games resulted in 0 points) - so historically is a period we struggle in. Great opportunity if we can get points on the board to put pressure on other teams and also move us further ahead and closer to the 95+ points Dean thinks we will need.

Last year in final 18 games we took 31points from a possible 54points and year before was 21points from 54.

Big Win tonight - now 5 points ahead of where we were this time last season. Last year we passed 60 points after game 34.

This team are a joy to watch - great to see players who are hitting form and giving Dean a massive headache.

Can you bring Olowu back in on a defence that has kept 3 clean sheets (nb I love Olowu and thought we'd struggle and miss his pace and recovery the past few games). Think it would be harsh to drop any of the 3 that have played well the past few games.

Kanu and Glover at wing backs have been superb, Brunt is superb - has that understanding with Ndlovu from there Wood days - the corner tonight was brilliant.

I had tried posting a couple of times - but it kept failing.

We are 11 points ahead of this time last season (we reached 73 points in Match 40 - so 6 games ahead).

If we match the results of the last 12 games - 7 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats - we will end up with 97 points.

York have a couple of tricky runs, and Forest Green I think are at risk of drawing games.

We know this league anyone can beat anyone - and there will be surprises with sides at the bottom picking up points from sides at the top - especially when they have nothing to lose - which is a risk when sides come up against us as several are now not expecting to get any points, so expect a few to have a go.

Added the fixtures onto a 4th tab.

It would be nice to think that 97 points guarantees promotion and we hit the mark in 8 games time at home to Wealdstone.

After another fantastic performance - my son's favourite away trip we have done this season. Think we should be entering Brunty into Strictly next year - the skill was worth the entry fee alone. Then to be followed a minute later by Steady doing Steady - and watching Brunty sprinting over to the fans before it had even hit the net :)

That result now puts us 14 points ahead of same stage last season (we are 12 points ahead on the head to head matches too).

We have beaten 22/23 points tally already with 11 games to go. In 2023/2024 we reached 76 points at game 41 (75 points).

Match the same results as last years last 11 games (7 wins, 3 draws & 1 defeat) we will end up with 100 points.

Looking at the run in what worries me is the last two games of the season especially as they compare to York and Forest Green.

We could be in a situation where we play Aldershot and Fylde with them both needing something to stay up.

Meanwhile York and FG could both have one game against someone in midtable with their mind already on the beach and someone going into a playoff campaign potentially resting players.

Not a position I'd relish.
