Real League Table 2024-25

Post: # 388669Post timbee »

And that is that. The final table of the season, and what a season it turned out to be. One to live long in the memories.

All being well I'll be back doing this early next year, let's hope it's as much fun. .

The Executive Summary
Champions:: Barnet
Playoff Place: York, Forest Green, Rochdale, Oldham, Halifax, Southend
Relegated: Dagenham & Redbridge, Maidenhead, Fylde, Ebbsfleet

In the points per game table we are 1st - obviously!

Plus/minus figures show teams who have played more, or fewer, games than the Bees.

It's always enjoyable when this returns timbee! One thing I'd be interest to know in the next iteration is what the numbers currently say for 'probable top spot' and 'probable top three finish', if that's possible from your model?

Updated after Tamworth away. Thanks for the positive comments and as requested I've added in some more numbers. You can never have too many numbers! Or points!!!

If the current 'probable champion' total (97) proves to be accurate then we're looking at needing two points per game + two additional points, or 2.14 PPG.

That's marginally better than our current record of 2.09 PPG, but does feel attainable, in particular because of the calibre of teams that we face at home after York (on the whole, obviously Gateshead aren't the easiest of opponents).

This next run of three games (York (H), Rochdale (A), Oldham (A) just feels huge - not because it's season-defining, necessarily, but because it would set us up so well for the remainder of the campaign if we were to get a solid points haul, looking at the fixture list.

Quite something to see Solihull in the projected bottom four!

I suspect a statistical quirk due thanks to their appalling recent form. One win and they will disappear again.

Agent Taylor to help Weardstones stay up by taking Solihell down instead!! however if projected safety is 45 they only need 3 more points from 14 games!!

It's obviously almost impossible to guess where we'll pick up points and where we'll drop them over the remaining 13 games.

But — if the current 94-point figure proves to be a title-winning total — then we could do the following and still win the league (ignoring draws for simplicity):

Wins

Yeovil (H)
Dagenham (H)
Woking (A)
Braintree (A)
Wealdstone (H)
Eastleigh (H)
Aldershot (H)
Fylde (A)

Losses

Rochdale (A)
Oldham (A)
Altrincham (A)
Gateshead (H)
Sutton (A)

Personally I think we may need at least 97 points, such is the calibre of York and Forest Green, but I'd also expect us to secure a better points return than above, based on current form. Exciting times ahead!
