Re: End of Season awards - 18th April after the Eastleigh match
This needs a bump as the BFCSA have sent out the voting forms.
I’ll put my choices below:
Goal of the Season Man, we were spoilt for choice here, there were so many to choose from - Shelton’s thunderocket against Ebbsfleet, Stead running over the half the length of the pitch at Oldham before firing home, Brunt’s dribble past three players and shot from the edge of the area also at Oldham, Stead’s volley at Tamworth, Glover’s curler at Exeter, Hartigan’s curler from the corner at home to Yeovil, Ndlovu’s finish against York at the end of a 4 man move, Brunt’s volley at Solihull, Coker’s curler against Rochdale….I’ve probably missed a few but I’ve gone for Brunt’s first at home to Tamworth just for the intricate interplay between him, Chapman and Glover, his quick feet on display and a really smart finish.
Young Player of the Season This one is the easiest one to call because the field of candidates is not big at all. Zak Brunt
Most Improved Player of the Season
I think in previous years this used to be given to players who managed to improve from being mediocre to being pretty decent. This really does not apply this season as the main candidates I can think of have improved from being good or very good to outstanding. Shout outs to Callum Stead for continually developing, improving and refining his game and to Idris Kanu from looking like he was going to be pushed out but instead really knuckling down and getting good at doing the unglamorous stuff, but I’ve gone for Myles Kenlock, the guy has scarcely missed a minute and has looked more and more assured with every performance. Him finally scoring last weekend was the icing on the cake. Anthony Hartigan and Danny Colling are also candidates in this category for me.
Player of the Season Another category where we’ve been spoilt for choice: Anthony Hartigan has been the heartbeat of the side and has been quietly brilliant, Calum Stead has put in the yards, always contributes and is the Barnet player that opposition teams’ fans seem to notice the most when we play them, Myles Kenlock has been excellent throughout, Danny Collinge has been inspirational after a frankly dodgy start this season, Mark Shelton has shown quality throughout and Nick Tavares has been unflappable. All of these are strong candidates for POTS but I’m going for Ryan Glover, who seems to be able to play in any outfield position, has been excellent since his arrival, has always displayed quality on the ball and his return of goals and assists has been fantastic.
Lester Finch Award I have given it to Dean Brennan because he has given us this unforgettable season, also for the Character post-match interview.

Brunt’s first against Tamworth is a great shout. Was either that or Shelton’s Ebbsfleet goal for me

Interesting selections above. Such a hard choice. I went:
Shelton vs Ebbsfleet for GOTS
Brunt YPOFTS
Kanu Most improved
Hartigan POTS
Dean Brennan Lester finch. I think he HAS to win it and was the easiest selection for me.

Not voted yet but must admit I was thinking Kanu as a contender for most improved as well.

Definitely Kanu for most improved.letchbee94 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025, 23:17 Not voted yet but must admit I was thinking Kanu as a contender for most improved as well.
Re: End of Season awards - 18th April after the Eastleigh match
I think that for all that everyone has been excellent Tavares has been a cut above. Centre back is the hardest position to play on our team because of how attacking we are and how many 1 on 1s we leave for the centre backs, and he's been the best of them by a long way - the really dominant run started with him being moved to the middle of the 3. That said, he's missed a few games so maybe that creates an opening for someone else.
I probably underestimate Hartigan from last year but I think he's gone from good to great this season, which is hard to do and deserves Most Improved. He was a liability off the ball last season, now he's a big part of our pressing. He's clearly worked on getting faster, stronger and fitter. And he has hardly any games now where he gets marked out of the game whereas there were a few last season. Maybe that's the team getting better around him but still noticeable.
Hartigan against Yeovil would have been replayed endlessly if a Premier League player had done it.
Kirk Rayment for Lester Finch (don't think he's had it before?). This management team have saved the club but Brennan rightly gets all the public plaudits so let's give this internal one to someone who won't get much recognition otherwise.
But this season there are few wrong choices, except for Young Player of the Year.

Re: End of Season awards - 18th April after the Eastleigh match
Most seasons there has been a stand out player, even if you chose someone else who came 2nd /3rd you could always see that the winner deserved it. This season there have been several outstanding players, nobody noticeably more outstanding than their outstanding teammates. Really it's just been the team. Really I can't decide. In addition to the names already mentioned, Owen Evans has only played half a season but the team has been almost invincible with him in it and Callum Stead's effort, enthusiasm and goals deserve recognition.
Lester Finch -I seriously thought about Kirk Rayment but I think when I do vote it'll be for Deano.

Re: End of Season awards - 18th April after the Eastleigh match
For Lester Finch award does it have to be an individual ? Could it not be the management team - They as a collective - including Jade and Liam who have done wonders with players we were concerned about injury records with. Kirk with what his is also doing with the media team now, Craig with the goalkeepers.
I'm sure Kirk won the Lester Finch award in the 1st season they were here with everything he was doing then behind the scenes and bridging the gap between supporters and the club that had been growing prior to Dean & Team joining.

I'm going to look forwards to watching all the seasons goals this evening - so many difficult to recall the matches they were scored in!

I know it's sometimes difficult to pick out an individual, but yes it's awarded to an individual.BedfordBee wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025, 09:31 For Lester Finch award does it have to be an individual ? Thanks Mark - was also thinking about the Hive Foundation / Walking Football Team & Back to Barnet - who have all done amazing work this year as well.b4life wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025, 11:21I know it's sometimes difficult to pick out an individual, but yes it's awarded to an individual.BedfordBee wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025, 09:31 For Lester Finch award does it have to be an individual ? Would be great to have people in their seats and then the players on the pitch hooked up to a mic. If we’ve won the league that day it’ll be rammed inside.beew wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025, 14:10Could be upstairs if there's no weddingsamberforever wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 21:38Gonna be packed!JWTBee wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 18:18Presumably in Legends like last year?PBBee wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 16:06Cheers - could be a rowdy one if we win it that day!b4life wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025, 12:36 Still going to be after Eastleigh match. Mikel Bee is my choice for the Lester Finch award. He doesn’t get paid to keep this forum going and has done a great job for years that is of significant value to supporters and the Club.
