Not pessimistic, I like to be realistically cautiousrudebwoyben wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025, 11:46Unduly pessimistic. The fact is we’re miles better than any of those three teams and our focus has not wavered one bit. Also, we’ve beaten Eastleigh in our previous two home meetings with them.
Winning the League?!

Re: Winning the League?!
Eastleigh have given up for the season, theyve won one in their last 8 and that was at home to Ebbsfleet.
In the 12 games against the current top 8, theyv'e only won 1 of those and that was at home to Rochdale.
Their only away win against a side higher than 15th was against Altrincham, that was in their second away game of the season.
Pretty sure we'll beat Eastleigh.

Being brutally honest I will be so disappointed if we win the league without playing.
Praying for Fylde to get something next week, and provided we beat Braintree, everything falls into place perfectly.

We're unbeaten in 25 games and we're being pessimistic about games at home to Wealdstone and Eastleigh.
Obviously, it goes without saying that anything can happen, but if there was ever a time in this clubs history to be confident going into games this is it. Arrogant? Maybe but I think we deserve to be a bit arrogant after what we've seen this season.

Yup, although not holding out much hope for the fylde match. Winning it on the 18th before (most likely scenario I think as Gateshead will be a tough place to go for York) we play isn’t the end of the world tough. Will be lovely to have that game with no pressure and then celebrate afterwards.beesknees99 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025, 12:53 Being brutally honest I will be so disappointed if we win the league without playing.

Re: Winning the League?!
Very true - but the only game we've not won in weeks was against 23rd placed Boston and when we played D&R they'd not won in 10 but we only got the win in injury time. Boston did the Double over York ( thank you Boston!) It's not being pessimistic to be cautious about matches v struggling sides, just realistic that in football, unexpected results can happen.FinchleyBeee wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025, 12:54 We're unbeaten in 25 games and we're being pessimistic about games at home to Wealdstone and Eastleigh.

Re: Winning the League?!
I see what you’re saying but I think we would have won the Boston match eventually had Collinge not been sent off and on a different day we would have scored against Dagenham much much earlier and ended up winning more comfortably.

Also, Dagenham have been much improved in recent weeks. Turns out to be a good win!rudebwoyben wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025, 14:37 I see what you’re saying but I think we would have won the Boston match eventually had Collinge not been sent off and on a different day we would have scored against Dagenham much much earlier and ended up winning more comfortably.
Formally WillesdenBee but upgraded in the world!
Re: Winning the League?!
I don't disagree, although I do think Boston worked out how to play us better than most teams have done and from their point of view, they deserved their draw.rudebwoyben wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025, 14:37 I see what you’re saying but I think we would have won the Boston match eventually had Collinge not been sent off and on a different day we would have scored against Dagenham much much earlier and ended up winning more comfortably.

Re: Winning the League?!
Assuming York and Barnet both pick up max points over the next 2 games, will we win the league on the bank holiday Friday fixture even if York win earlier in the day? (or will it be already over pre kick-off if York don't pick up max points)
Re: Winning the League?!
In that scenario were York don't win the early kick off, we would win the league before our game started. York would be left with only 9 points to play for and we'd be either 10 or 11 points ahead before our late kick off game started.EastBarnetFan wrote:Assuming York and Barnet both pick up max points over the next 2 games, will we win the league on the bank holiday Friday fixture even if York win earlier in the day? If York win their game then it can be done during our game.

Excellent, thanks for that. Ideally done on the pitch in front of a full house!

Winning the League?!
So, the permutations — assuming we beat Wealdstone:
- If York pick up 6 from the next 2 games, the earliest we can win it is Sutton away, provided we also beat Eastleigh. If we don’t beat Eastleigh, it goes to the Aldershot game.
- If York pick up 3 or 4 points from the next 2, we can win it at home to Eastleigh (surely the ideal scenario)
- If York pick up 1 point or less from the next 2, we will win it BEFORE the Eastleigh game, without playing
Of course if we DON’T beat Wealdstone, York *could* end up just 2 or 3 points behind us pre-Eastleigh.
As difficult as that is to envisage, it’s certainly not impossible - so next week does now take on a renewed importance.

Re: Winning the League?!
On the bright side, we’ve given York a margin of error now in order for us to win it on our terms on good friday. Gateshead away will be a tough game for them, as will aldershot with the form they’re in.beesknees99 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025, 12:30 So, the permutations — assuming we beat Wealdstone:

I'm with Deano on this - one game at a time - hopefully we'll be at home when it does happen
