On the goalkeeping front, I'm just a bit interested in what is going on with Jed Steer, who has been released by Posh. Perhaps I'm drawing too many conclusions.
Re: Barnet Squad 2025/26
Absolutely. I think his strength and power will still prove to be too much at L2 level and his hold up play will be key for us as it has been this season. Important for Deano to bring in players and runners who can work off Lee. Obviously a goalscoring centre forward too as I personally don’t think Lee would get more than 15 goals in a L2 season
Re: Barnet Squad 2025/26
Good luck to those moving on. Some absolute legends.
It's a really good foundation to build on. 6/7 players contacted that are easily good enough for top league 2 or lower league 1. Get the right additions and we can have a real go next year. Ade and Owen returning would be a great start.
Must be exciting for Dean, Connor and the other staff involved in recruitment to be able to click on the "League Two Player Targets" Excel file this close season.

I want to be good, is that not enough.

All three could do a lot worse than signing with a Barnet side with the wind behind them and better funding than for a while. Others will know better, but are we talking 75-100 k for better squad players in L2?

£150k for an out of sorts Kabamba should tell you all you need to know.
I'm sure DB has his eye on players to fill the roles vacated or possibly being vacated. He moved quickly last season to buy the players he wanted and I would not be surprised to see the same happen this season.

According to https://www.capology.com/uk/league-two/payrolls/ the lowest budget in L2 was just over £2m/year and the highest £5/m/year.
Assuming a 22 man squad for the low end of the budget range, that still works out at about £90,000/year. Obviously, within that average, there will be a big range depending upon ability and experience of the player.
Note, that spending doesn't necessarily equate to success - the biggest spenders Carlisle were relegated and of the top 10 spenders, only Bradford won automatic promotion.
The data does not include bonuses. I have no idea how accurate this is mind you.

Reasonably happy with the list.
Previous seasons in league 2 we've seen extremes of has beens with big names and youngsters who arent ready.
DB will have a much harder job this time, but I trust him more than past managers who've taken us up.

Weren’t we in the playoffs last time MA took us up before he left ?
Re: Barnet Squad 2025/26
I think we were or thereabouts. What I remember feeling last time we went up in 2015 for those few seasons was that the focus was on building up The Hive and not on first tea matters. I really hope it isn't the case this time round and early indications suggest not. I don't think Deano would allow it anyway hah

On the fringes of the play-offs in the autumn in the second season in the league (think it was 8th when he actually left, after we’d got into 7th after his last match but with an extra game played). In the first season back we finished 15th, with a very creditable 62 points.jonbonbaby wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 21:24 Weren’t we in the playoffs last time MA took us up before he left ?
I think that very decent effort was in spite of the recruitment, rather than because of it. Players like Ben Tomlinson, Shaun Batt and Kevin Lisbie didn’t do a lot for us. Jamie Stephens and Bira Dembele were honourable exceptions, however.
Re: Barnet Squad 2025/26
We were just outside. I think we briefly entered the playoffs a few weeks later under Rossi - was it after the 3-1 win at Orient who went down that year?jonbonbaby wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 21:24 Weren’t we in the playoffs last time MA took us up before he left ?

Great that Stead is back, won't find another who runs and presses like him. Let's hope at least one of the three offered contracts take it, I reckon one of Collinge and Oluwo will be back.
Sorry to see Francis go without much of a chance, he looked exciting in the few bits we saw. Still, Brennan hasn't got one wrong yet in terms of when to let players go.
Wing backs and central midfield look like the key spots for recruitment but all areas will get attention, no doubt.

He asked to terminate his contract due to personal reasons rather than being released by the club.Norfolkbee110 wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 19:12 On the goalkeeping front, I'm just a bit interested in what is going on with Jed Steer, who has been released by Posh. Perhaps I'm drawing too many conclusions.

Always gutting to see a successful squad break up but that's football. Good luck to those leaving us for whatever reason. Thanks for their service and the memories we will cherish of this great season..Good luck for the future.
