Chapman didn’t pull up any trees after he returned from injury. Together with his injury record, wonder if that played a part in DB releasing him.

His opener v Southend showed us what he could do but he was struggling to stay fit. After his injury he was a bit of a liability as he kept conceding possession and putting us under pressure. He reminded me a little of Freeman.

I’m sure they’ll both find NL clubs. I wouldn’t be surprised if Francis resigns for Braintree, though they couldn’t afford a fee
I reckon if we stayed in the NL then they would have been kept on but it was probably decided by the MGT team that moving up a division with aspirations for another promotion was a step too far for them both.

Of the starting eleven who won promotion v Aldershot, 7 are either already contracted or have had option exercised, 2 have been made an offer. That 's 9 of the 11 - only leaves Evans who I'm sure the club will be making an offer and Coker who was made an offer but has chosen not to stay.
When did that last happen, that we wanted to keep an entire team?
Add in Kanu who presumably missed Aldershot through injury and Kenlock who hopefully will be back for the start of next season ( does anybody know more, I did see that he had an improved prognosis? )

Even allowing for not 100% of the above staying, that's still a pretty decent squad. Add 5-6 quality signings, have a handful of contracted young players with potential for the future and there appears to be cause for optimism.

I would expect all the out of contract players to see what other options they have open to them. Ultimately they have been free to negotiate since January. However, if Danny had already made up his mind he isn't going to sign and had told the club that, I can see no reason not to announce it.

It's more likely that he hasn't made a decision and is carefully weighing up his options and possibly engaging in a bit of hard to get to maximise his offer. Danny is a bright lad and I expect him to be making his own decisions - I can't imagine him being swayed towards a bad football decision by an agent.
I wonder if Danny moves, the seeds were sown way before this. I believe he wasn't one of the better paid players in the squad and it surprised me last summer that we hadn't agreed a new deal with him but instead took up his option.

That would suggest we couldn't come to an agreement over a new deal, took the option and he decided to see out his option year whilst lining up his next move. I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn up at MK as he lives around there.

Wasn't Danny at Franchise FC before?
He might still have contacts there or he left on bad terms!

I'd not expect any player to have given a fan in the pub anything other than a non-committal response to a question about their future.

I see Telford has been released by Barrow, but can't see DB wanting to sign him permanently. Tsimanga has been released by Peterborough, with the right management he could be a 20 goal a season striker in league 2.

If he does leave I don’t believe it’ll be MK

Kabby is probably an upgraded version of Telford. Not got the range of finishes Telford has but overall a better player. Not sure what he’s like post injury but had a great turn of pace before, and is a proper box striker. Would be a nice option to have with ndlovu.

Telford served our purpose as an occasional sub up front but if he wasn't good enough to start for us in NL, he hardly would be in L2.
Tsimanga was excellent for Borehamwood but that was a few years ago now. I imagine we had a look at him last season?

I think that was a rumour but he wanted a league club. He’s played a lot for Swindon under Holloway so would be surprised if they didn’t offer him a deal.

I thought Telford looked a good player - but he didn't really fit our system. His L2 record is inconsistent, but he had had good seasons at that level.

No major surprises in the retained list the more telling decisions will likely be made in the next week

Credit to DB and TK who over the last 3 years have only had 3 key players run their contracts and that was a conscious decision to ensure we wouldn’t compromise our title run. That’s quite rare at our level.
