League 2 Rivals

Post: # 398897Post Bee1972 »

Franchise are reportedly signing Bolton forward Aaron Collins for £850,000!

Will Davies has joined Fleetwood from Sutton for a large fee.

Very happy with our team but we obviously need a few additions which I’m confident we will do. I had thought we had a chance of auto promotion if we get the right players in, but seeing some of the spending going on I’m thinking the play offs would be a more realistic aim.

I think a more realistic aim is to improve as the season goes on and secure a comfortable mid table, or slightly above, position. After 2 seasons of winning loads of games in the NL we fans need to understand thst L2 will be a lot tougher. While optimism is good anybody expecting promotion or playoffs may be disappointed.

We’ve competed against far higher budgets than we possess over the last few seasons, maybe not to the extent of spending a million quid on a striker however. What we have that MK don’t is the togetherness that’s been built over the last 4 years with Brennan at the helm. If we finish mid table no one will be upset, but I honestly believe we can make a proper push for play offs. Both Notts and chesterfield came up and conceded a lot more goals than they did in the NL. With our defensive additions I’d back us to be solid in that department, so it’s more a case of continuing to score at a good rate. Hopefully get a striker who can run off the back of a defence, another number 10 and 8/6, a wing back and a couple of GKs and we’re in a nice position to start the season.

Understand Dobra is on £5k pw at Chesterfield and Markanday signed "biggest contract Chesterfield have ever given" to re-sign with them.

In real terms that £260k per season for Dobra and Christ only knows how much for Markanday.

That;s a LOT of money.

That is crazy money! Shows what we’re up against, although it backfired at Carlisle, it doesn’t always guarantee success.

Markanday was a local boy too, grew up in Barnet.
Pretty middle-class for a footballer though, he went to Haverdasher Aske’s school!

It's amazing how many footballers you see now that have come through at other clubs but who were born in and around Barnet.

Just from last couple of days....

Tom Pett who has just signed for Oldham. Born in Potters Bar, played Youth football for Boring Wood before signing for 85%ers and Chavenage.

Joe Johnson is a young left back/centre-half who was on bench for England U19's yesterday. Born in Barnet and played for a team in Totteridge before signing for Luton and playing in Premier League.

Dillon Markanday has just signed for Chesterfield. Born in Barnet, (parents live in Whetstone I think).

Daniel Oyegoke was born in Barnet and played for our Academy before joining Arsenal in 2018. Currently playing in Serie A.

Michael Craig, (twin of Matthew Craig), is a 22 year old right back for Reading. Came through Watford & Spurs Academy before signing for Reading & becoming 1st team regular.

Matthew Craig, (twin of Michael Craid), is a 22 year old DM for Spurs who spent last season on loan at Barnsley and Mansfield).

Keanan Bennetts is a 28 yo winger from Edgware. He came through the Spurs Academy before spending time in Germany and spent last season on loan in Austrian 2nd tier.

Jayden Bennetts is a 23 yo midfielder from Barnet. He came through the Watford Academy and is still playing in Germany.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu, (he of Luton fame), is from Hendon.

Kyle Joseph is a 23 yo striker. He was born in Chipping Barnet and has scored goals for Wigan, Cheltenham, Oxford, Blackpool and Scotland U21's. Currently at Hull.

James Kellerman is from Hendon.

Louie Dennis of Bromley is from Hendon.

Noni Madueke of Chelsea is from Barnet.

I have every confidence that an in form Danny Collinge and Nik Tavares could handle any £850,000 striker and that a sublime Antony Hartigan cross on to the head of Oli Hawkins can surpass the head of a £850,000 defender

Chesterfield have gone big in the last 24 hours & more to come.

Dilan Markanday from Blackburn.
Adam Lewis from Morecambe.
Ryan Stirk form Walsall.

Looking at GK Zach Hemming from Middlesbrough
Seriously in for GSM at Sarfend.
Also looking to bring in 1st choice #9.

Danny Cashman has signed for Crawley. No surprise seeing that it's his hometown club, but I think he would've been a player who was on Dean's radar.

Great player on the ball.
Not so great off the ball.
I don't think he's a Brennan player at all.

I get the impression that he's the type of player Dean could nurture and develop. He certainly knows where the net is.

He’s had a fair few interactions with the authorities before.
