Bringing our football club home would be my priority.
Actually questions 2 and 9 allowed me to add a comment which i have done in support of BBB.

I wonder whether it woulld be of any use for others to fill it in.
There doesn't seem any harm in doing so, if you live in the borough (I've just submitted one referencing BBB support too).

On a separate note — having read through the campaign update again, and a little more thoroughly this time — it really is striking just how compelling the case for New Underhill is.

It's such a well-written summary, and I sincerely hope that the councillors on the strategic planning committee read it before coming to a decision. It would be a real shame if political allegiances got on the way of building a great community asset, at no cost to the taxpayer.

Excellent article and thank you Iain for taking the time to put this together.

I'm rather optimistic having read this, as there has clearly been plans to build on the site in the the recent past but funding issues put a stop to it. Looks like the local residents will have to choose their poison. A stadium that effects them 23/365 days a year (with all the free community space use in the upper stand - great initiative by the way) or a new private development and everything that comes with that. I know what I'd want across from me.

I also walked past the site itself last week on a hot summers day. Not a single person on the field, just some walkers using the footpath (which as we know, won't be affected).

I received this by email yesterday. It's very well compiled, but I was left thinking that Barnet Council would probably prefer houses to a football stadium on the site. The Labour Government have said that they want to build 1.5 million new homes, and for that to happen they will need to use green belt land.

Labour’s plan for 1.5 million homes has seen the delivery target for the Borough of Barnet slashed from over 5,000 per year to 3,680 per year. I don’t know if that’s good or bad (don’t know enough about previous supply, affordability, current land use etc to comment), but if the council was determined to have houses on the park it wouldn’t be due to what is a significantly reduced delivery requirement.

For an area that's been designated as a sports hub, it would certainly be strange if the council prioritised housing over a stadium that can encapsulate all of their plans for the space.

I think it was important for it to be neither positive nor negative and it's clearly neither.
It's a brilliantly put together, factual summary with a compelling message to finish.
A finish Nicky Evans would have been proud of.
The more people that read it in the Underhill area the better.
If the stadium eventually gets the thumbs up, Iain and his fellow campaigners will have played a very significant part.

This was always going to be a challenging application.

How ironic would it be after locals reject South Underhill to get a school, and then rejecting it again 25ish years later and getting a new housing development next door. I guess you should be careful what you wish for.

A very important point, which I would hope would be a major factor in the council’s decision-making about our application.

If the Underhill locals don't believe that the council wouldn't build flats on the playing fields refer them to what's happening in North Finchley: blocks of flats on the Finchley Memorial Hospital gardens; the whole of the Lido/Leisure Centre; Lodge Lane car park; the Homebase site and most of the Tally Ho area. The developers, Regal, are also keen to remove the Arts Depot and in time build on the Waitrose site!

I've emailed my Barnet Vale Councillor today and passed the email on to a few people who never received it (I think they maybe didn't respond to survey which ward they live). Does it matter if they are in a different ward to me?

Thanks for your support all.

1. It doesn't matter if you are in a different ward / out of Barnet for the location of the person you are emailing.
2. If you would like to get involved but haven't received any emails so far - just drop us a line at info@bringbarnetback.com and we'll add you in from tomorrow.
