From my usual perch near the TV gantry I don’t often get up close, but last night behind the goal, I was reminded just how good Nik Tavares is. Granted it was a friendly, but in our little group, the words ‘Rolls Royce’ was banded about every few minutes during the first half.

We played some delightful football first half with a very strong lineup. Galvin was, I thought, particularly impressive on the left - a significant upgrade on Coker (all due respect to him). 2nd half Hitchin were far more combative and gave a good account of themselves, whereas we were less impressive, apart from the guy playing wide right, who looks a good prospect.
I just hope the plan isn’t for Hawkins to replace Stead in the starting lineup as I wasn’t overly impressed with him tbh (although to be fair he took a Nasty blow to the head which may have affected his performance).
Only real downside was the behaviour of some of our young followers - sad to see, especially given how friendly the set up is at Hitchin.

Ollie Hawkins is the replacement for Dom Telford(although double the height!!) as the 2nd player who can play the no 9 role so cover for the role Lee N'dlovu was playing last season, not a direct replacement in the side for Steady as we don't play with 2 central strikers!

I don't think Hawkins was signed to be a starter and certainly not as a Stead replacement.

590 sounds like a good attendance for a PSF on 1st July. Maybe more still on Saturday?
