What I found when sorting programmes to move on...

Post: # 375505Post hoofer2 »

As with many others... time to part with my programmes. From what I can tell there is very limited demand and more effort than it's worth to try and sell.

These were my first ever Barnet games. It was the FA Trophy match that got me hooked...

I've got several hundred I need to go too, looks like recycling is the only option.

Apart from a few special ones, like United away, Wembley 1972, last match at Underhill and first at the hive, I managed to sell all of mine, some on here, lots on ebay especially all the 40s to 60s, some of which were quite valuable. The rest, about 1000 I sold to a program dealer. It seems a shame to recycle them, someone out there will want them.

That is a good idea to sell them to a programme dealer.

I know I haven't looked at them in years - programmes were my record of every match I have been to. Until move to The Hive and one season I stopped

It would be marvellous if the programmes could be digitised and added to the Downhill Second Half site.

I wonder if there is a stock of proofs from when they were first done on computers rather than lovingly typed. Maybe David Bloomfield or his predecessors and successors as programme editors may have them on a floppy disc or USB stick somewhere.

Permission may have to be sought and i reckon it would be mammoth undertaking and maybe it can start with the electronic programmes from the last few seasons.

Programmes are a lovely nostalgic document of one's football supporting lifetime but they don't half take up a lot of room. I was sad to see the demise of the printed programme but secretly relived.

I've just relisted 698 programmes, at a token price of less than 3p a programme, it's such a shame.

Is there a Barnet FC programme archive somewhere? Where one copy of every Barnet programme ever produced is stored? I'd happily donate mine to it if there was, but someone would have to very dedicated to be the archivist.
