So if Jack had ruptured his ligaments on his debut for Posh, would they still have paid us the full half a million and possible add-ons if he played 100 times, got promoted and was called up for the full Republic of Ireland squad? NOT BLOODY LIKELY!

I know we've had lower than expected crowds this season, we're still a team that has too much dead wood on its books but £500,000? Where has all the money gone to make all the Barnet FC non-playing staff redundant? I'm beyond anger on this and my heart goes out to all the employees.

I have always been supportive towards Tony Kleanthous on this message board but tonight I feel very upset for the staff and this club has been made to look a laughing stock - YET AGAIN!

Absolutely pathetic.
I am the someone who said we may not have received the money yet. You called it ABSOLUTE CRAP. Well I hope you have now listened to our chairman's interview with Ian Abrahams where he announced the payments were scheduled over 4 and a half years and the club have so far only received £50,000. Anybody who knows anything about football club player deals knows this is the norm. Do you really think a Premier League Club would pay £60 million for a player in one go. Sir, don't be so offensive about what others say especially when you don't have a clue what you are talking about.
Richard,

Feelings were running extremely high on Tuesday night following the announcement of all non-playing staff being let go. It was not a personal dig at you otherwise I would have mentioned your name. Ok, I admit I'm not clued up on transfers for football clubs and how they work. For what it's worth, you are a very articulate fan on here who has good football knowledge all round. I wasn't being offensive - just genuinely upset for our employees, who face an uncertain future (as does everyone).

Now is not the time for us to be snapping at each other. We all need support - whether it's to brighten us up, mentally or maybe just to think about previous successful seasons of Barnet FC. No hard feelings mate. Best wishes to you and your family.
Best wishes to you and yours as well. That is a very gracious response that is very much appreciated. I worked as right-hand man to Andrew Adie for 5 years before I retired so I picked upon a few truths about the way the football world operates that I had no clue about before. Like you say it is good to think back to the better times for the club. Just before I came to the laptop a short while ago I was thinking of the night we beat Northampton when Edgar Davids made his playing and managerial debut for the club. Andrew had told me that Edgar may be coming to the club a week or two before it was made public knowledge. I did not believe it would happen until the exciting day the media descended upon the Hive and Tony introduced Edgar as the new joint manager of the club.

New update from TK. Not many revelations here but good to hear the facilities will be used to support the vulnerable.

I've not posted on here for some time due to the constant negativity. Before anyone asks, I've been coming to watch Barnet since 1986 and with my son and dad (still paying his membership although he hasn't been for a while due to having chemo) we all pay our monthly membership.

TK hasn't always got it right from a recruitment perspective. Yes I get that and agree. But if anyone on here has taken the time to talk to him he has always been ambitious to get Barnet up the football league. The activities/hospitality etc around the club are all there to help generate extra funds for Barnet football.

As a business owner myself, this is a worrying time and I totally understand the steps TK has had to take, especially with reduced money coming into the club currently and the future. I fully expect to see a few more 'Burys' before next season which is sad for football in general. Keep the communication open and coming TK. Keep the Bees flag flying high and lets get behind the club and not keep criticising every move/comment that is made! Now to wait for the backlash and go into hibernation on this message board again....

TK talks the talk then when it doesn't work he always blames someone else, while taking every customer for every available penny possible!!!

How he is a successful business man is total beyond me, although unfortunately in the current climate he may have actually got this one right - but again predominately to protect just himself and his own business interests.

However truthful you may have been though, how on earth anyone is going to get a new job is impossible in the current crisis.... Unless you know how to make bog roll then you will be multi-millionaire come the end of the week.....!

He just had to be the first one to do it to get all the attention towards him once again!! And the man wonders why nobody likes him?

National League needs 15 to 20 million...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51962292

Smaller clubs like ours will not survive with no football until 30th April at the earliest unless hard measures/decisions are taken.

Whatever your view of Kleanthous, in terms of seeking the limelight he's got nothing on other owners/chairs. I don't think well of how he's handled things this week (although today's statement is much more like it), but if the announcement had anything to do with 'getting attention' it could have come with TV and radio appearances (beyond a chat with a friend on Talksport), pre-prepared quotes for the press etc.

Indeed, as is often the case, he could have done with being more active in terms of exposure and attention!

Not shooting it down but before you get too carried away with admiration for this altruism, TK isn’t helping out the Royal Free for nothing. They have a commercial relationship and his TiC company gets paid for the provision of radiology services. The last reported figure paid by The Royal Free to TiC was just over £30k on 1 December 2019.

As TK says I hope we can all put aside our football differences for a few weeks or months and come together in these very difficult times.

Football differences shouldn’t be difficult to put to one side. Differences about how companies treat their employees less so.

So within less than an hour of 3 posters making well reasoned posts calling for calm, you post this ????
Says more about you than it does TK.
